According to the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Iran exported non-oil commodities worth $1.905 billion to neighboring Iraq during the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21. This figure represents a significant portion of Iran's overall non-oil exports, highlighting the importance of the Iraqi market for Iranian goods and services. The two countries share a long border and have deep historical, cultural, and economic ties, facilitating trade and economic cooperation. Iraq has been one of Iran's top export destinations for non-oil products, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and consumer goods. The IRICA head emphasized the government's efforts to support and promote non-oil exports as part of Iran's broader economic diversification strategy, reducing reliance on oil revenues. Strengthening trade relations with neighboring countries like Iraq is a key priority in this regard.
