In a significant development for Iran's energy sector, the Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) has successfully completed major overhaul operations on 11 offshore platforms in the strategic South Pars gas field. The managing director of POGC, Mohammad Meshkinfam, announced that these critical maintenance works were carried out without any interruption, even during the recent 12-day regional conflict that raised tensions in the Persian Gulf region. The South Pars field, shared between Iran and Qatar, is the world's largest natural gas field and a vital source of energy for the Islamic Republic. The overhaul operations were aimed at ensuring the continued efficient and safe production of natural gas from these platforms, which play a crucial role in meeting Iran's domestic energy demands and export commitments. Despite the challenging circumstances posed by the regional tensions, the POGC's skilled workforce and robust contingency plans enabled the seamless execution of these maintenance activities, underscoring Iran's commitment to maintaining its energy infrastructure and safeguarding its energy security.
