TEHRAN – In line with the government's policy of promoting renewable energy sources and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, the Iranian Water and Power Resources Development Management Company has announced plans to construct solar power plants adjacent to dams across the country. The director of the engineering office, in a recent statement, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating that it aligns with the nation's commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection.
The construction of solar power plants near dams offers several advantages. Firstly, it utilizes the available land surrounding the dams, which is often underutilized or unsuitable for other purposes. Secondly, the proximity to existing electrical infrastructure associated with the dams facilitates the integration of the generated solar power into the national grid.
