According to the latest trade figures released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Iran exported non-oil commodities worth $437 million to the Sultanate of Oman during the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year, spanning from March 21 to June 21, 2023. This significant export value highlights the strong economic ties between the two neighboring countries and Iran's efforts to diversify its export portfolio beyond oil and gas. The IRICA head, Alireza Moghadasi, stated that the non-oil exports to Oman encompassed a wide range of products, including agricultural goods, handicrafts, and manufactured items. He emphasized the importance of strengthening trade relations with neighboring countries, particularly in the Persian Gulf region, as a strategic priority for Iran's economic development. Oman has long been a key trading partner for Iran, with the two nations sharing historical, cultural, and economic ties. The recent export figures demonstrate Iran's commitment to expanding its non-oil exports and reducing its reliance on oil revenues, which have been subject to fluctuations in global energy markets and international sanctions. In addition to Oman, Iran has been actively pursuing trade opportunities with other countries in the region, such as the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Turkey. The government has implemented various policies and initiatives to support domestic industries, promote exports, and attract foreign investment in non-oil sectors.
