Iran is embarking on a major overhaul of its free trade zones to revitalize their role in regional commerce and national economic development, according to Reza Masrour, secretary of the Free and Special Economic Zones High Council. The restructuring aims to streamline operations, attract more foreign investment, and enhance the competitiveness of Iranian goods and services in global markets. Masrour stated that the government recognizes the untapped potential of these zones and is committed to implementing reforms that will unlock their full economic potential. The plan includes measures to improve infrastructure, simplify regulations, and provide incentives for businesses to establish operations within the zones. Additionally, efforts will be made to promote collaboration between the zones and domestic industries, fostering knowledge transfer and technological advancement. By leveraging the strategic locations and preferential policies of the free trade zones, Iran hopes to boost exports, create job opportunities, and drive sustainable economic growth.
